Education

- Northwestern University: Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance and Music Education
- Northwestern University: Master or Music in Music Education

Training & Performance Highlights

- Julia began playing piano in elementary school and later went on to study organ, clarinet, and voice. She is a certified Illinois music educator for K-12 and taught six years in the Illinois public school system. 
- She is a classically trained opera singer and has sung everywhere from the famous Tanglewood Institute in Lenox, MA, to the Lyric Opera stage in Chicago and even County Stadium in Milwaukee, WI. 
- Julia is an accompanist at her church, and has also served as a musical director for a local community theatre group. She also has performed in high school and local community musical theater productions, competed as a member of a Sweet Adeline’s International barbershop chorus, and performed in college as part of an a cappella group. 
- Julia is a proud member of Sigma Alpha Iota, an International Women’s Music Fraternity, where she served as president of the Beta Chapter from 2007-2008. 

Teaching Experience

- CGPAC teacher since 2018
- Private music lessons for over 15 years
- Zion District 6
- K-6 elementary general music teacher from 2008-2014
- Fine Arts Department Chair in Zion District 6 from 2012-2014, where she developed a new curriculum for five elementary schools and one middle school. 

Personal

Julia enjoys spending time with her husband, Nate and her two children, Noah and Ella. She loves cooking (especially baking), sewing, and traveling. She is originally from New Hampshire and spends a lot of time there at her family’s summer home on Lake Winnipesaukee. She is also a rollercoaster enthusiast and collects Harvey’s seatbelt handbags.
