Parent Viewing

Thank you for attending class during parent viewing week. Seeing your student’s progress and discussing what you observed is vital to progress. We do not allow parents to come in to watch classes on a regular basis, as this helps the dancers to gain independence. We have scheduled Parent Viewing weeks to allow you to come observe your student's classes so you can see their hard work in action.

PARENT VIEWING DATES COMING UP:

February 9th-15th

May 4th-10th

Parents are invited to attend all or part of class.

**Exception: Swing Choir Classes: Please attend the last 15 minutes of class, only.

"Who can come to parent viewing?"

Any grown ups (mom, dad, guardian, grandma, etc) can come. Please limit guests to only those who will sit quietly and attentively. *You can bring siblings ONLY if they can sit quietly through class. If they are being disruptive, we may ask you to step out, so you don't distract the dancers from their class.

"How many people can I bring?"

Due to limited space, please try to limit your guests to 2. There are chairs in the rooms for you to sit in and observe.

"Do I come inside with them right away? What do we do during class?"

Yes, enter with your dancer. Please leave your street shoes in the front lobby with your student's shoes (on a shelf or in a "parking spot"). You will sit in chairs and observe your dancers in class!

Please only use your phones to take pictures. Dedicate this hour to genuinely paying attention to your child, they will appreciate you looking at them and not at your phone. Excuse yourself from the room if you need to take a call or text.

Try to refrain from talking to other parents during class, as it distracts your dancers. You are there to VIEW class, and to watch your dancer work hard.

"Does this apply to my child's piano/voice lesson?"

You are absolutely allowed to come in and observe their lesson that week! The space is small, so please limit to one guest.

Engaged Dance Parent Idea:

Try to find a few positives to discuss and at least one thing you would identify as a goal to improve before the next viewing in May.

Encourage your dancer to practice at home. A simple way to do this is to find time to stretch with them! Adding 5 min of active stretching a few times a week will help them reach goals of splits and better leaps/kicks!
